Travel to Sikkim necessitates that our guests hold a valid visa for India. Recently, the Government of India announced an online visa-on-arrival for tourists of certain nationalities. However, this visa-on-arrival option technically does not allow the tourist to travel to protected areas, of which Sikkim is one. We strongly recommend that all Mahalaya Journeys’ guests obtain a standard tourist visa for India from their nearest consulate.
We recommend that guests apply for their visa at least 4 weeks prior to their date of travel.
It is essential to carry a printed copy of your tourist visa, your passport page, and a passport-sized photograph when entering Sikkim.
