Getting to Sikkim

Most of our journeys will start in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Gangtok is a 4.5 hour drive from Bagdogra Airport, in Siliguri, West Bengal; or a 20-minute helicopter ride.

It's only befitting that a colourful journey should have a colourful end

Our recommended mode of transport to Gangtok is to fly to Bagdogra airport, from where we can organize a seat on the helicopter or a personal transfer for the scenic drive that is included in the price of your journey.

By Air

There are several daily flights from Delhi to Bagdogra, as well as from Calcutta and from Mumbai. From Delhi, seven airlines operate flights to Bagdogra: Jet Airways, Air India, SpiceJet; Vistara; IndiGo; Air Asia; and Go Air. Jet Airways, Vistara, Air Asia, and Air India operate from Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, and are therefore most convenient for guests transiting from international flights. Of these carriers, we find that Jet Airways offers a more comfortable and reliable service. Jet Airways and Air India also offer both business class and economy.

There are also flights from both Bangkok (Thailand) and Paro (Bhutan) to Bagdogra that operate twice a week. The only carrier that services these routes is Druk Air.

By Train

There are overnight trains from New Delhi Railway Station. One of the most comfortable Rajdhani Express. While we enjoy the train as one of the most authentic Indian experiences, the journey between Delhi and new Jalpaiguri(NJP) is almost 28 hours, and not for the faint of heart.

From Kolkata’s Sealdah Railway Station, there is a 12-hour overnight train, Darjeeling Mail.
